WORKWEAR RECYCLING

Roughly 2 out of every 7 people in the UK wears a uniform. At some point, all of these uniforms will become worn out, off-brand, or unsuitable. This generates an estimated 15,000 tonnes of workwear that is sent to landfills or incinerated every year. That's the equivalent weight of around 50 Boeing 747 aircraft.

The space we have on this planet is not infinite. If we keep throwing things away, never to be used again, we will run out of room.

But what if we repurposed what we already have to create new things?

GIVE YOUR PPE AND WORKWEAR A SECOND LIFE

In 2020, we supplied nearly 2.3 million items in workwear, hi-vis, PPE, and workplace safety. When it comes to end-of-life, the majority of these items can be recycled.

We work with a leading recycling solutions provider to recover and recycle used PPE and workwear. By giving these items a second life, we can reduce the amount of waste sent to landfills.

So, how can you get involved? Depending on the volume you have, we can offer two different solutions for your recycling needs:

OPTION 1 - RECYCLING BAG

If you need a one-off service or have small amounts that need recycling, the best choice for you is our recycling bag.

For only £19.95 + VAT you will receive a 1000mm x 600mm bag which you can fill with your used PPE and workwear. We can accept all kinds of items including helmets, eyewear, hi-vis, footwear, gloves, trousers, shirts... almost everything! You can put all different kinds of items in the bag. For example, you can put helmets in the same bag as hi-vis clothing.

When the bag is full, give us a call and our workwear recycling partner will come and collect your bag. This is all included in the price!

Your PPE and workwear items are shredded to 15mm (max) to ensure there is no trace of company branding or logos for security. The materials are then reused in different ways, such as:

  • Compressed into fuel pellets and used to generate energy from waste
  • Used to make sustainable construction materials used in roofing
  • Recycled textile materials which are used for industrial insulation, relief blankets, mattress insulator pads, packaging, and more

option 2 - bespoke solutions

We appreciate that the recycling bag might not be big enough for everyone. If you're looking for something on a larger scale, we can offer bespoke solutions per site.
