GO/RT 3279 Replaced By RIS-3279-TOM
GO/RT 3279 duplicated common European requirements, particularly those outlined in:
- Common Safety Method for assessing conformity with the requirements for obtaining a railway safety authorisation (EU 1169/2010)
- Common Safety Method for assessing conformity with the requirements for obtaining railway safety certificates (EU 1158/2010)
As such, GO/RT 3279 was made redundant as a National Safety Rule and as a Railway Group Standard, leading to its withdrawal.
However, the content of GO/RT 3279 is still useful and relevant to railway undertakings today. Therefore, it's been replaced by a Rail Industry Standard: RIS-3279-TOM, which incorporates the content of GO/RT 3279 in its entirety.
What Does This Mean?
In practicality nothing's changed; no technical amendments have been made to the standard.
Are GO/RT 3279 Garments Still Compliant?
All existing garments certified to GO/RT 3279, Issue Eight, remain compliant. However, all new garments will be certified to RIS-3279-TOM.
In fact, you might've noticed many of the railway high visibility products we supply have already made relevant changes to their labels and certification (from GO/RT 3279 to RIS-3279-TOM). The remainder will follow in due course.
